The Series 100 used ½-inch particleboard boxes with thermofoil doors; the Series 200 upgraded to ¾-inch MDF boxes with hardwood frames. The Series 300, their premium line, used all-plywood construction with dovetail drawers. The fastest way to identify your line is the hinge cup bore pattern, 35mm on Series 100 and 200, 40mm on Series 300, or the stamp inside the drawer box itself.

OEM Jerith hardware is no longer manufactured, so replacement means matching spec to modern equivalents. Blum Compact 33 hinges fit the 35mm bore with a small adapter plate; Salice 200 series works for the 40mm. For drawer slides, KV 8400 series side-mounts match the original 75-pound rating, though we typically upgrade to 100-pound soft-close slides since the price difference is minimal and the function is better. Signs Your Jerith Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

• Doors hang crooked or won’t latch. The original 3-way adjustable hinges have worn nylon bushings, common after 20-plus years in Walnut Creek’s dry summer heat. The adjustment screw turns but the door drifts back within days.

• Wall cabinets pull away from the wall. The original installation used 2½-inch screws into studs; with the weight of modern stone countertops stored above, or simply decades of load cycling, the fasteners fatigue in soft drywall.

DIY or Call Us?

What you can safely check: the hinge bore diameter with a tape measure, whether the drawer slide is side-mount or undermount, and whether the box damage is surface or structural. A flashlight and fifteen minutes tells you most of what we need to know over the phone.

Where DIY goes wrong: Jerith boxes were built to imperial dimensions that don’t always match modern European hardware spacing. Drill a new hinge hole a sixteenth off and the door never hangs right. Remove a cabinet without supporting the adjacent run and the countertop cracks. The real risk is cascading damage, a mismeasured part that forces a second order, a second wait, a second attempt.
